Personal Response

This story is a wonderful story of friendship. Friends moving away from each other does happen often and it is hard for young children to adapt to that. In this story, it shows that no matter how far you may be from someone you love, you can find ways to make it work and still feel connected.

Teaching Ideas

Students can think of who their best friend is or someone they love. Students will think about what if that person moved far away from them. What would they put in their paper airplanes? Students will make a paper airplane and put something in the paper airplane that is significant to their friendship or relationship with that person.
