Summary
Through the illustrations and text, it is evident that this story aims to include children of all races, genders, disabilities, religions, ethnicities, etc. This story takes place in a school. Throughout the story, the author discusses class rules. As well as, different activities that will occur during the day. For example, making art or playing music. While focusing on these school factors, the author repeats the message “All are welcome here.”

Personal Response
I enjoyed this story because the illustrations show images of students who come from diverse backgrounds. The bright colors and images of students enjoying their time together at school create a welcoming environment. Throughout the story, the author uses rhyming to further engage the reader. The use of rhyming also contributes to the overall message of the story. This message includes the idea that despite our differences, in school we aim to accept everyone and we must work together!
Teaching Ideas
This story can be used in a wide range of topics. Specifically, I would use this story when teaching character traits, class rules, or diversity. For example, students may choose a character from the story and describe their external traits. Or, this story can aim to open a conversation regarding how our country is diverse, including people from all over the world. Regardless of our differences, we must all work together to follow the class rules and help each other to grow and learn.
