Personal Response
I really enjoyed reading this book as I was able to learn more about the Hispanic Culture, especially because I have always found the Hispanic Heritage to be extremely interesting as I do not have much Spanish background. Additionally, I love listening and dancing to to Latin music, so it made reading about the celebratory festivities very enjoyable for me. Due to this, I was then able to imagine what it would be like to step foot into that culture.
Teaching Ideas
Following the reading, the students will be asked to sit around in a circle and will take turns sharing their favorite part about the Hispanic Heritage and why whether it be, the music, the dancing, food, etc. Then, the students will participate in creating their very own diorama about what they do in their own culture in. Once finished, they will take turns presenting in front of the classroom to portray what they made to help them to develop a feeling of pride in their own culture.
