Summary
This story is about an imaginative young girl named Grace. Grace loved creating her own adventures. One day in school, Grace’s teacher told the class they would be putting on the play peter Pan. Grace wanted to be Peter Pan, but her classmates told her she couldn’t because she wasn’t a boy and because she is black and he is not. Grace’s nana told her that Grace could do anything she wanted to do. Grace auditioned for Peter, and got the part. Grace was an amazing Peter Pan!

Personal Response
I loved this story because it was short, the perfect book for a read aloud, and has such a good take away message for young kids. This book tells the story of Grace, who lives her life creating and doing anything she sets her mind to. I think this story is inspiring for young readers. I think this book would be a great edition to lower elementary grade classroom library.
Teaching Ideas
This book could be used to teach a moral/lesson. Through the story, Grace gets put in a situation where she doubts herself like never before because of what her classmates think. This book shows kids that it doesn’t matter what you look like, or what gender you are, if you want to do something, and you work hard, you can do anything you set your mind to just like Grace did.
