Summary
This is a moving story, one that resonates with millions of immigrants who make up the fabric of our country. It is about one girl living in two worlds, a girl whose DACA application was eventually approved and who is now living her American dream.

Personal Response
Although this book is a window for me, I was able to connect with all characters and feel empathy for migrants coming to the US in search of a better life. Because although imperfect, I truly believe this is the best country to live in. I was able to personally connect with her want to become a writer or teacher to tell her story and help others in need. I, too, love the idea of helping others and sharing trials and tribulations with others as a teacher.
Teaching Ideas
This book would go great with a social studies theme of immigration and talking about different countries in the world. The students that are natural born citizens get a first look at what it is truly like becoming an immigrant and finally becoming a citizen.
