Summary

Meet Zubi: a joyful Bangladeshi girl excited about her first day of school. But when Zubi sees her mother frowning in the mirror and talking about being “too big,” she starts to worry about her own body and how she looks. She hears more and more people being critical of each other’s and their own bodies. Zubi is unhappy which leads her family to see what they’ve been doing wrong, and to help Zubi see that we can all make the world a more beautiful place by being beautifully ourselves.

I believe this book will boost anyones confidence! The message in this story is beautiful. This story shares no matter what you look like, you are beautiful just by being you! Your kindness and how you treat others are what truly show your beauty! This story will also be a good conversation started with different ways people say mom, dad, sister, grandma, etc.

Teaching Ideas

A sweet and loving idea is having students write words of kindness about themselves or their friends! This will be a way to show how beautiful each person is whether its something internal or external!
