This book is a wonderful retelling and window into the history and culture of Native American tribes. The sense of community and traditions are inspiring and give a glimpse of what it might feel, look, and sound like growing up in a traditional Native American tribe.
Teaching Ideas
This book would be great for a read aloud, or segue into teaching about Native American cultures. This book could celebrate the diversity and community that revolves around Native American culture and provides students the opportunity to take part in experiencing it through vivid pictures and retelling of events from first person narratives.
