Personal Response

This book was cute, but I wish it had more of a storyline. One thing I really liked about the book was that in addition to the story, students can also learn about Tai Chi, which is a type of martial arts. Students can do a variety of things surrounding this idea! There is a lot to work with in this book, that teachers can use in their read aloud or in their class lessons! I also liked the pictures that were included. They were fun, and colorful which is perfect for engaging children of all ages

Teaching Ideas

This is a cute book that students can use to learn about Chinese culture. Perhaps this could be a read aloud, and some of the activities that can supplement the read aloud could be to research Tai Chi. Students can also compare Tai Chi and martial arts, as it is one of the earliest forms of martial arts. Students can even go further can research other parts of Chinese culture to present on!
