Personal Response

I really think that this book is a story that I would read to  my preschool students during the first few months of school. I think that this text really emphasizes how we need to accept everyone’s differences and how we are all the same in some ways, and help our students identify that their differences is what makes them unique and to love themselves.

Teaching Ideas

Inside my classroom I would use this book to illustrate themselves and their family members when we learn about Family and All About Me. Having students illustrate their family members as well as themselves may help connections to be made between peers. Conversations can then begin to start to be had between classmates about different things they like to do  with their family.
