Summary
This book shows us that food helps to bring people together. Food has the power to connect people. Sharing a meal together can provide us with a safe space to talk freely, and be able to get some things that may be bothering us. Food also allows us to learn and share about different cultures

Personal Response
I think that this another book that I would enjoy reading to my preschool students. I think that this text really emphasizes how we need to accept everyone’s differences and how we are all the same in some ways. This text talks about how food can bring us all together, and that we are able to learn about others through food.
Teaching Ideas
Inside my classroom I would use this book to introduce families and communities. I think that I would have students illustrate their favorite meal they have with their families and then share aloud with their classmates. To follow up with the activity we could plan a “eating around the world” family event. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, would be invited to the school to share a food that represents their culture. Families would be able to go around and try all the different food!
