Summary

This story is about a confident Black child who is proud of everything that makes him who he is. He’s got big plans, and no doubt he’ll see them through! He’s creative, adventurous, smart, funny, and a good friend. Sometimes he falls, but he always gets back up. Some times times he’s afraid, because he’s so often misunderstood and called what he is not.

Personal Response

The story is great for children all around to show that you are amazing! You make every good thing! This story allows for children to slow down and really look and listen, when somebody tells you, and shows you, who they are. There are superhero’s right in front of our eyes! I love how much this story empowers our youth no matter what your background is!

Teaching Ideas

A fun and creative idea to bounce off of this book is to create a positive project! Something super creative is getting a shiny reflective sheet ad place that on the Childs drawing of their body. That way, when they look at the picture its their reflection or a friends reflection that they see! Around the shiny circle and drawing of they body, they can write positive comments about themselves. They can show a friend and this positive comments will be there’s, too!
