Personal Response
This book is absolutely beautiful. From its song like story to its illustrations it is just amazing. It is so great to have a book that represents the love between parents and children no matter how they came to be a family. Not only does it show what family is, it shows not all families are the same and that is completely alright.
Teaching Ideas
I would read this book to a younger class like Pre-K or Kindergarten. We would then have a class discussion about our families, we would find out how they are alike and how they are different. I would then have the students complete a small project on their family and then we would have presentations. The project could be a drawing of their family which we all could compare and contrast to the other drawings.
