Summary

This book is about color stereotypes and highlights the fact that colors are not for certain genders. During this book the readers become empowered to think about the fact that anyone no matter what their gender are able to express themselves using any color in the rainbow. This book helps students to realize values and acceptance.

Theme(s):

Acceptance, Colors are for everyone, cultural expectations

Personal Response

I think this is a beautiful way to highlight the fact that any one should be accepted whichever gender they are. That colors should not be justified based on gender or race and everyone is equal. This book is beautiful and I think all children should read this!

Teaching Ideas

I would use this in my classroom and have students pick any color they feel is their favorite color and what their connection is with that color. They will be told to think of a color that makes them at peace or feel happy. They will do a project on this and be able to make their own connections to this.
