This book is about two sisters Asiya and Faizah. It is Asiya’s birthday and her first time wearing a hijab. This book highlights the fact that even though Asiya’s classmates don’t understand the importance of her wearing her hijab, she is proud to wear it representing her Muslim faith and culture.

I think this is a beautiful book that focuses on courage and family. The importance of having the courage to stand up for what is important to you and have confidence. I think this is a beautiful book that everyone should read.
Teaching Ideas
I would use this in my classroom as a project and a way for students to acknowledge something that they can talk about that is important in their tradition and their families that may not be important to other families.
