Personal Response
This was a fantastic biography on Vanessa Nakate. Before reading this book, I was not aware of the childhood Nakate lived and everything she has done thus far for climate justice. I enjoyed the facts that are incorporated on the back of the book as well as the biographical timeline that includes historical pictures of Nakate’s life.
Teaching Ideas
A literacy activity that could be tied into this book after reading it as a class would be to conduct research on the climate change Vanessa Nakate fought for. Students could be split into groups and create a presentation on what new information they learned about climate change as well as how to do your part to prevent climate change.
